About
The Artist
As with lots of other artists I started out intending to be a painter
but a twist of fate set me on a different creative path.
And this year will be my 40th as a professional photographer.
In that time I have had the good fortune to work with some of the greatest
names and on some of the biggest accounts in the world.
And yet, the day I went to collect my first award, my father was still
waiting for me to get a “proper job.”
There is more to commanding an image than just point and shoot!
I believe that personal contribution, creativity and an ability to make
intelligent use of available resources, combined with expertise and a
little good timing are the key elements to producing the best images.
I researched digital photography extensively before I went over in 1997.
And since then I always shoot that way out of preference.
I have had my images referred to as being closer to paintings than
photographs, and I am pleased to think that perhaps I have truly come full circle.
I have worked extensively in most areas including food and drink,
tobacco, agriculture, airlines, cars, shipping, electrical, home-wares,
gold, diamonds, petro-chemicals and music.
I have had a lifetime love affair with portraiture and a passion for
landscapes that made itself known only 10 years ago.
I like to think that my style is constantly improving and changing
and when I look out of the window at a new day I think of my friend
Pascal Turcius and his words to me …“Carpe diem”
